Kick your home fries up a notch with this firecracker dipping sauce. Mustard and cayenne pepper give it a kick, while honey softens the blow–but only a little! Definitely not for the faint of spice-heart.
I’m a dipper. I can’t eat dry food, and I hate watching others do it! I dip EVERYTHING, fries, meat, cookies, you name it. Eating out I’m 100% guaranteed to ask for extra sauce on the side…maybe two. I’m constantly on the lookout for the next best sauce. Extra points if it’s SPICY!
This recipe has a little sweet and a LOT of spice. I made it with home fries, but it would be great for dipping wings, or even veggies. Anything, really. I use this brand of mustard powder, but any will do! Mustard often gets a bad rap, but it’s one of my favorite ingredients. Using mustard in a recipe won’t make your food taste like the yellow stuff you squeeze on a hot dog. Instead, it will add depth, tang, and a little heat.
A word of warning: When I say “Firecracker Dipping Sauce,” I mean it.
This sauce is HOT. Of course you can pull back on the cayenne pepper–like I did in a small batch before feeding it to my toddler–but just know if you follow my exact instructions, your mouth will be ablaze. But, if you’re like me, that’s your only goal when eating food.
